Apart from this, cultural activities, folk songs, film songs and other information were also received from the radio itself. But today the usefulness of radio has remained that much in front of mobile and TV. Today radio has become a memory. Even after this, there are some people who still use radio.
Diwakar Manjhi, a 70-year-old retired principal of Pretendih village, located about 8 kilometers from Saraipali block headquarters, has been listening to radio for the past 47 years. Manjhi told that he got a job as a teacher in 1975. After training, the first posting took place in Kanker of Bastar in 1976, since then he has been listening to radio and even today his desire is to listen to radio. Told that in the last 47 years, TV and mobile have taken the place of radio. But he still likes radio.
Manjhi says that news comes first in the radio. Even today, he believes in radio news and various programs more than TV, mobile. After the launch of the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat programme, the attraction of radio among officers, employees and leaders has increased.
I listen to radio, that’s why I don’t wear glasses
Diwakar Manjhi, even today, for the news of the country, abroad, different types of music, religious programs, etc., he does not depend on TV or mobile, but on radio only. 70-year-old Manjhi said that due to listening to the radio, his eyes have not strained till date and he can read books even today without glasses. If he used to watch TV and mobile, he might have needed spectacles. Told to listen to the radio after the eyesight became sharp.
